Increase in Incidents and Geographic Distribution
Compared to the same period in 2023, a 3% increase in the total number of incidents has been observed. The majority of these incidents, a total of 67 (72.8%), have been recorded in Barcelona. In addition, 13 non-face-to-face incidents have been reported, carried out through the Internet, social networks, private communications or the media. Of the 67 incidents in Barcelona, the majority occurred in the Catalan capital, with 55 of them in the Sants-Montjuïc district.
Types of Incidents and Call to Action
Public roads have been the place where the greatest number of incidents have been recorded, followed by the workplace and nightlife spaces. It is worrying that 24 of the incidents were due to hatred and exaltation, and 21 were physical attacks. Given this situation, the acting Minister of Equality and Feminisms, Tània Verge, has urged the future Parliament of Catalonia to approve a Catalan trans law and modify the law against LGTBI-phobia. Verge has also highlighted the importance of not going backwards in the advances that guarantee LGTBI rights.
