The neighborhood of Rasa dels Molins shows its displeasure
The residents of the Rasa dels Molins de Berga express their discomfort with the noise generated by the attractions installed during the celebration of the Patum. According to the residents, the City Council did not control the noise levels, exceeding the limits established by the council itself.
Neighbors measured the noise with an app and found that one of the attractions exceeded 60 decibels, the limit set by the municipal government. Despite this, the City Council did not carry out the relevant checks, as it did not have an approved sound level meter.
The Councilor for Economic Promotion, ErmÃnia Altarriba, has recognized that it is necessary to improve noise control mechanisms and has proposed the installation of noise limiters to avoid exceeding the permitted levels. In addition, the possibility of changing the location of attractions to reduce the impact of noise on neighboring buildings will be studied.
Changes in the location of attractions
This year, the Patum attractions were located in the northern part of Rasa dels Molins, instead of the usual space next to the Fire Department. This change made it possible to keep the children’s attractions at the top of Paseo de la Indústria, but created capacity problems.
Councilwoman Altarriba noted that the new location has worked well in general, but the impact of noise needs to be improved. It is proposed to rotate the location of the attractions to prevent the noise from directly affecting the facades of the buildings. A joint assessment will be carried out with the neighborhood association to take the appropriate measures.
Conclusion
The residents of the Rasa dels Molins de Berga express their discomfort with the noise generated by the attractions during the Patum. They ask the City Council to improve noise control mechanisms and to take their concerns into account. The possibility of changing the location of the attractions is being considered to reduce the impact of noise on neighboring buildings.
