The event, held at the Casal de les Dones de Reus, was made possible by the collaboration between the Department of Good Governance and the Directorate General of Open Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The Mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, and Lara Torres, director general of Open Government, inaugurated the day with a speech that emphasized the importance of citizen participation in decision -making.
Debates on municipal participation
One of the outstanding activities was the round table entitled ‘Citizen participation in the City Council of Reus’. In this session, representatives of the City Council and citizens involved in the participatory budgets shared their experiences, focusing on projects such as the adaptation of kindergartens for children with special needs.

During the event, Lara Torres presented a draft law on citizen participation, a significant step towards a more inclusive government. In addition, Leonardo Díaz, of the Pi i Sunyer Foundation, presented the conclusions of the Public Policy Policy Panel 2024, which analyzes the best practices in this field.
Innovations for small municipalities
Rubén Jericó, of the Consortium Open Administration of Catalonia, together with Albert Teixell, presented the Decidim Catalunya service, designed to facilitate participation in small municipalities.
