Reus begins a new stage with the low -emission area

The City Council reports on the ZBE

On Tuesday, May 20, the City Council of Reus kicked off a series of informative sessions aimed at educating the population about the implementation of the low emission zone (ZBE). This initiative is part of a wider strategy to facilitate the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Informative sessions for all

The first session, focused on the neighborhood movement, took place in the assembly hall of the old town hall. From tomorrow, May 21, the following sessions will be open to all citizens, with a calendar designed to ensure wide participation.

Commitment to citizenship

Dolors Vázquez, the Councilor for Citizen Security and Coexistence, emphasized the importance of taking into account the opinions of the citizens. He said that the contributions collected during the participation actions have been fundamental for the preparation of the regulations regulated by the ZBE, emphasizing that the informative sessions seek to provide a sense of security and clarity to the population.

Phases of regulation

From December 1, 2025, the regulation of access for the most polluting vehicles will begin to be applied, with sanctions for those who do not comply with the regulations. Until December 30, 2027, this regulation will only affect vehicles without environmental label that do not belong to residents of Reus or who do not pay the vehicle tax in the city. Only at the end of 2027 will be extended to vehicles with B and residents.

EINES PER A L’E USUARI

The City Council has launched several tools to provide information on the ZBE, including a dedicated web portal (www.mobility.reus.cat) that offers details on the regulations, control points and authorizations. You can also directly contact a telephone number (977010068) and an email (zbe@reus.cat) to resolve doubts.

Information materials

In addition, the City Council will distribute an informative leaflet that will summarize the keys of the ZBE, with special emphasis on the implementation calendar and the authorizations. This material will reach all households in Reus by post, ensuring that the information is available to everyone.

A more sustainable future

With these initiatives, Reus seeks not only to comply with environmental regulations, but also to create a healthier urban environment for all its citizens. The implantation of the ZBE is an important step towards sustainability and the improvement of quality of life in the city.
