A Singular Day Arran of the Easter
Reus approaches the celebration of Sant Jordi, which this year coincides with the end of Easter. On Tuesday 22, the city will be lit with the literary verbena, an event where local authors will present its literary news, followed on the 23rd for a party that will transform the Plaça del Mercadal into a true cultural epicenter.
A market full of life
With a total of 80 stops, including 11 florists and 9 bookstores, this year’s celebration promises to be vibrant. Among the highlights, the sardana dance will be held in the morning, adding a traditional touch to the party. The Councilor for Culture, Daniel Recasens, has expressed the desire to make Sant Jordi an accessible celebration and rich in literary content.
Activities that will enrich the day
The Sant Jordi program has already begun with various activities, including a cultural festival organized by La Crispeta, which will take place on April 26. Before the Day, the Central Library Xavier Amorós will host a special event to pay tribute to Joan Ferraté, an intellectual who marked an age.
Previous and later events
The celebration of Sant Jordi will be complemented by activities such as stories in schools for schoolchildren and a debate between young readers. The signing of books for local authors will be held at the City Council’s stop, while readings of book fragments will also be organized at the Mercadal.
Traditions that are not missing
Between the most anticipated traditions, the parade of the Superdrac and the giant Arlet will bring a festive air to the day. The Xiquets de Reus will offer a castellera exhibition, and the lighting of traditional dragons and figures will close the celebration with a visual spectacle.
Editorial news and exhibitions
The Central Library will also become a display case for the publishing news of local authors, with an exhibition that highlights the works published during the previous year. This edition includes a total of 181 books, with a special tribute to Joan Ferraté, who contributed to Catalan literature.
THE CRISPETA: AN UNBLIDABLE CULTURAL FESTA
La Crispeta, with its third edition of the Cultural Festival, promises a day full of free activities for all audiences. With music, humor and a second -hand clothing market, the day seeks to foster culture in Catalan and community participation.
With a program that includes book presentations and a wide range of children’s activities, the La Crispeta festival extends beyond the celebration of Sant Jordi, seeking to create an inclusive space for culture and fun.
