Reus transforms into the craft ice cream paradise this weekend

A celebration of handmade ice cream

On May 16 and 17, the city of Reus will become the nerve center of handmade ice cream with the celebration of the Film Festival, an innovative event that is supported by the Reus City Council and is part of the European project ‘Gelaton the Road’. Open to everyone, the event promises a unique experience for ice cream lovers.

A festive start

The party will begin on Friday afternoon with a performance by the Choir of Reus, which will take place at 19:30, accompanied by a tasting of ice cream that will mark the beginning of this weekend dedicated to the frozen delights.

Activities and tastings for all

Saturday promises to be the most exciting day, with activities scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm. Attendees will enjoy various shows and family activities, including a free tasting of four artisan ice creams made with local ingredients. Among the options that can be tasted, there are tastes such as honey and cottage cheese with caramelized hazelnut, baked apple with organic cinnamon, and chocolate with oil and salt.

A chance for ice cream parlor

In addition to the tastings, this event is part of a national competition of the European project, where the most prominent ice cream shop will be able to compete for a place in the international final in Italy. The winners will receive prizes of 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 euros, with a decision based on 60% vote from the jury and a 40% popular vote.

Complementary activities

The ice cream party will not only focus on ice cream tasting. There will be a variety of activities for all ages, including the awards ceremony of a school drawing contest, children’s workshops organized by the Conesedesalud Association, and dance exhibitions of the Ball School of the Reading Center.

A new local promotion model

Through this initiative, the Boule Space seeks to promote a model that unites gastronomy and creativity, emphasizing the importance of local products. The ice cream party is presented as a new way of invigorating the territory and strengthening the position of Reus inside the European map of the craft ice cream.

A project with vision

The Gelaton The Road project aims to foster the sustainability and recognition of local products in the world of handmade ice cream. This contest offers a platform for ice creamrs from around the world to share knowledge, experiment with new techniques and show their skills in creating exceptional ice cream.
