An Initial Getaway
The royal family is about to begin its well-deserved summer break. Princess Leonor, her eldest daughter, plans to spend a few days with her fellow cadets from the Zaragoza military academy, possibly heading to Cabo de Palos, in Cartagena.
Subsequently, as is customary, it is very likely that Queen Letizia, her daughter Sofia and King Felipe will head to a secret destination, isolated from public scrutiny, enjoying the privacy they deserve.
A Traditional Meeting
According to the annual routine, it is almost certain that the family will meet in Marivent, in Palma de Mallorca, with the exception of the king emeritus.
Queen Sofia, accompanied by her sister Irene, will enjoy the summer season in this place, while the Infantas Elena and Cristina could also visit, avoiding coinciding with Queen Letizia.
However, it is certain that Felipe, Letizia, their daughters and grandmother will enjoy a few days together in Marivent.
Reception and Revival
During their stay in Marivent, the royal family will have the traditional reception for guests, local authorities and prominent personalities of the island, showing off their splendor and enjoying the hospitality offered by Zarzuela.
Over the years, this reception has generated memorable moments, such as anecdotes between the hosts and guests, captured on video for the public to enjoy.
Recently, the royal house has received a shocking response to one of these invitations. The island’s Minister of Economic Promotion and Local Development, Jaume Alzamora, has rejected the invitation, expressing his political and personal opinions regarding the monarchy.
Alzamora stated: ‘One more year, since my political and personal aspiration to dissolve the monarchy, an anachronism incompatible with a modern and democratic State, I have declined the invitation of the Royal House.’ He also urged King Felipe to apologize, following a request from the full Council of Mallorca.
These statements have generated controversy, but they undoubtedly provide a unique perspective on the diversity of opinions in today’s society.
