Russian attacks in Ukraine: Armed forces bomb energy facilities and destroy weapons stockpiles

Russian forces continue attacks in Ukraine

Russian forces continue to launch attacks in different areas of Ukraine in an attempt to wear down the militias. This time the army has bombed Ukrainian energy facilities and damaged arsenals of Western-provided weapons.

Mass attack with high precision weapons

The Kremlin’s Armed Forces launched a “massive” attack with high-precision and long-range sea and air weapons, as well as drones, against energy facilities in Ukraine on Friday night.

Destroyed targets and attacks on civilians

According to Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s government, 16 Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from the Black Sea and several X-101 and X-555 missiles from the air, as well as 13 kamikaze drones. Of these, 12 missiles and 13 drones were neutralized. The nighttime attacks also hit residential buildings and a kindergarten.

Response to Ukrainian attacks

In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that the mission has been successfully achieved and that “all targets have been destroyed.” According to Vladimir Putin’s executive, the attack was a response to Ukraine’s repeated attempts to bomb Russian energy facilities.

Damage to Ukrainian facilities

Ukraine, for its part, has confirmed Russian attacks and damage to facilities in Zaporizhia and Lviv, in the south and west of the country, respectively.

Complexity of protecting energy installations

According to experts, the fact that Russia is such a large country and that its energy sector is so spread over the territory makes it difficult for the country’s military to protect energy facilities, which may be considered targets by Ukraine.

Civilian victims

The leader of the People’s Republic of Donetsk has denounced that Ukrainian attacks with bombs and drones against the regional capital have caused the death of three civilians and left four people injured.

Periodic attacks against the city

Although attacks on the regional capital have decreased after Russian forces took Avdivka, the Ukrainian military regularly fires missiles at the city.
