Salvador Illa and his vision on migration

Salvador Illa, leader of the Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC) and socialist candidate for the next elections, was invited to the program La Caravana on Ràdio Estel, where he addressed several topics, including the migration issue and his sincere adherence to the message of Pope Francis

In his words, the history of the region and of Spain demonstrates its ability to welcome and integrate immigrants, contributing to their development and that of society in general.

A call to welcome and integration

Referring to the papal visit to Marseille, Illa highlighted the importance of Pope Francis’ message on the need for a wider welcome to immigrants. He emphasized that this attitude not only does not endanger cultural identity, but strengthens it and enriches society.

The socialist leader expressed his alignment with the principles of welcome and integration, emphasizing the benefits that this entails for all.

Criticism of the partisan use of the migration issue

Illa regretted the partisan and demagogic appropriation of the migration issue by certain political sectors. He pointed out that electorally taking advantage of this issue only contributes to a manipulation of reality and does not promote real solutions to migration challenges.

Recognition at the audience with Pope Francis

During her intervention at La Caravana, Illa also shared her experience in a private audience with Pope Francis, highlighting it as a significant moment in both her personal and spiritual spheres. He expressed his gratitude and excitement for having the opportunity to share ideas and reflections with the head of the Catholic Church.
