Salvador Illa seeks support for his investiture

The candidate of the PSC for the presidency of the Generalitat

The candidate of the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC), Salvador Illa, is seeking support for his investiture as president of the Generalitat. Although he has not ruled out counting on the votes of the Popular Party (PP), he has made it clear that this option is not his first choice or the most suitable support. Their priority is to reach an agreement with the formations that share progressive visions with the socialists.

Discarding a possible socio-vergence

Salvador Illa has ruled out the possibility of establishing a sociovergence with other political parties. In addition, he has rejected the proposal of Carles Puigdemont to be invested as president of the Generalitat, stating that the decision of the citizens of Catalonia must be respected.

Negotiating with various political formations

The candidate of the PSC has begun to speak with various political formations to negotiate a future investiture. However, he has made it clear that he is not prepared to negotiate with far-right groups such as Vox and Aliança Catalana. Regarding the votes of the Popular Party, Illa has affirmed that he does not rule them out, but he has emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in the negotiations.

Avoiding an electoral repeat

Salvador Illa aims to avoid an electoral repeat in Catalonia. Although it is not his first choice, he is willing to reach out to avoid this scenario. He considers that he has the legitimacy to ask for support and work for a broad agreement that benefits Catalonia.

The possibility of sociovergence

Salvador Illa does not rule out the possibility of establishing a social vergence in the future, but he considers that right now is not the best time. He emphasizes that the elections of May 12 were clear and he will work to present himself at the investiture and obtain the necessary support to be president of the Generalitat.

Promoting agreements with ERC

Salvador Illa intends to promote the agreements that the Socialists have reached with Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC). It emphasizes the importance of working for debt forgiveness and the transfer of Rodalies. In addition, he is open to reaching specific agreements with other political formations to move forward with projects such as the expansion of the airport or the Hard Rock.

A transversal government

Salvador Illa aims to form a transversal government that incorporates people with professional excellence. Although he has not given specific names, he has expressed his desire to have qualified people in different fields. It highlights the importance of putting Catalonia’s interests above partisan interests.
