Two goals and an assist in the thrashing of Rayo
Sávio Moreira, known as Savinho, was the star of Girona’s 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano. The player on loan from Troyes came on in the second half and revolutionized the game with his fast, brash and effective football. The Brazilian scored the last two goals of the white-and-reds, who are consolidating themselves in the fight for the Champions League, and assisted Tsygankov in the first. His coach, Míchel, praised him: “He is a very important player for us; we hope that next time he enters the game earlier”.
A winger who damages defences
Savinho once again demonstrated his quality and his imbalance in the final meters. The player born in São Mateus took advantage of the spaces left by Rayo, who came out in search of the equalizing goal, and made his defenders suffer with his starts and dribbles. In the first half, the Brazilian did not have much prominence and switched sides to look for more ball. He only had one clear chance, but Dimitrievski stopped his shot with his foot. The referee blew the whistle for offside, but Girona were already warning of their offensive potential. In the second half, Savinho exploded and was once again the winger that makes Montilivi fall in love. He was involved in the first goal, starting the play that ended with Miguel’s cross and Tsygankov’s finish. He made the second with a personal move, entering the box and placing the ball on the far post. He celebrated so effusively that he took off his shirt and saw the yellow card, his fourth of the season. And he closed his performance with the fourth goal, winning the sprint to Espino and beating the goalkeeper with a Vaseline. The samba sounded again in Montilivi.
