Revitalization of the university space
The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) has announced a renovation project for its headquarters in Baix Penedès, with the aim of improving both accessibility and external facilities. This initiative, which is expected to be completed during the summer of next year, represents a significant investment in the future of higher education in the region.
Investments and collaborations
The project, which amounts to a total of 506,000 euros, will count on the collaboration of the Diputació de Tarragona and the Ajuntament del Vendrell, which will respectively contribute 354,000 euros and 152,000 euros. This alliance between the institutions seeks not only to improve facilities, but also to promote a richer and more accessible educational experience for students.
Improvements in accessibility and green spaces
The reform will include an extension of the main entrance from Avinguda Diagonal, with the aim of making it more accessible and visible. In addition, the external space of the site will be transformed to facilitate mobility between the different buildings, including laboratories and health simulation classrooms.
Modernization of the Health Simulation Classroom
One of the most prominent aspects of the project is the modernization of the Health Simulation Room, where nursing students will practice with state-of-the-art equipment. This update, with a cost of 116,000 euros, will allow students to enjoy resources similar to those found on other URV campuses.
Perspectives of institutional leaders
Josep Pallarès, rector of the URV, has underlined the importance of this intervention, stating that it will contribute to dignify the facilities and improve the educational experience. The president of the Provincial Council of Tarragona, Noemí Llauradó, has added that these improvements are essential for the growth of university services in the region.
Boost to local development
The mayor of Vendrell, Kenneth Martínez, has expressed his gratitude for this investment, emphasizing that higher education is key to transforming Vendrell into an administrative and service center between the cities of Barcelona and Tarragona.
A promising future for the university headquarters
The Baix Penedès headquarters of the URV, created in 2009, offers degrees in Nursing and Early Childhood Education, and seeks to bring knowledge to the community. These reforms are another step in its mission to contribute to the social and economic development of the territory.
