A new comic version of the Spanish classic
Sílvia Abril and Andreu Buenafuente debut as a duet on stage in ‘El Tenorio’, a comic version of the Spanish classic. This work, directed by Carles Sans and with dramaturgy by Israel Solà, seeks to honor two of the great comedians of the Catalan scene, Mary Santpere and Joan Capri, protagonists of the comic version of the famous piece on the Barcelona billboard of the 70s. ‘El Tenorio’ will premiere on November 4 at the Poliorama Theater and tickets are now on sale.
A contemporary vision of the classic
In this El Terrat production, Sílvia Abril and Andreu Buenafuente play the characters of Don Juan and Doña Inés. The work seeks to recover the spirit of Joan Capri and Mary Santpere’s ‘Don Juan’ from a contemporary perspective. This version puts special emphasis on the female characters, offering a view from their point of view.
A combination of humor and tradition
Israel Solà’s dramaturgy is inspired by Ramon Santpere’s adaptation, seeking to rescue episodes from the original plot and generate new contemporary gags. The aim is to allow the audience to follow the original plot of the play and enjoy memorable passages, such as the famous ‘no es verdad, ángel de amor’. At the same time, it is sought that the public can laugh with the astracanadas of the parody and the new comic situations that, following the style of the golden age, speak from the present.

‘El Tenorio’ has a duration of 85 minutes and will be performed in Catalan. The functions will take place from November 4 to 24 at the Poliorama Theater in Barcelona.
