Tarragona celebrates environmental resilience with the Mediterranean Ones Awards

An acknowledgment to social brave

On June 20, Tarragona will become the stage of the 31st edition of the Mediterranean Ones Awards, an annual event that emphasizes the commitment of several defenders of the environment, human rights, climate change and culture. Organized by the Mare Terra Fundació Mediterrània, the gala will bring together a wide range of activists, political figures, collaborators and friends who share the mission of the Foundation.

A slogan that reflects the struggle

The current President of the Foundation, Ángel Juárez, emphasized that this year’s motto, ’31 years resisting ‘, symbolizes the strength and determination of the winners. Juárez has expressed his pride in the significant contributions made by these individuals and organizations.

Personalities present the winners

The presentation ceremony was attended by Joan Basora, representative of the Port of Tarragona, and Guillermo Garcia, Minister of the Environment of the City Council of Tarragona, who have supported this important cause.

The winners this year

The prizes of this edition recognize prominent figures in various categories:

Social commitment and equality

Cristina Fallarás has been distinguished with the Aeses Dissemination and awareness prize for its tireless task in awareness of feminism, gender violence and the struggle for equality in a society that still fights inequalities.

Justice and human rights

Joaquím Bosch has received the Aes Foca Mediterrània Award, recognizing his contribution to the defense of human rights and their fight against corruption.

Awareness of climate change

The project ‘Mariposas Negras’, directed by David Baute, has been awarded with the Aes Efe Verde Climate Change Award for its innovative way to address the effects of climate change and educate the public on this urgent problem.

Environmental Activisme I Community

The Mar de Fábula Association has been recognized with the CE UICN Ones Award for its beach cleaning initiatives and its work on pollution awareness, with a special approach to plastic waste.

Reforestation and education

Operación Encina has been awarded the Aes Bosque inhabited Award for his dedication to combating climate change through reforestation and environmental education projects.

Cultural promotion

The Escritores por la Alpujarra Association has received the Aes Riet Award, recognizing its work in the promotion of culture and the arts, giving visibility to various artists in the region.

A gala of surprises

The Gala of June 20 promises to be a memorable event, with artistic performances of company Alma Flamenca and Stromboli Jazz Band, as well as an exhibition by Paco Padilla that will welcome the theater attendees.

Prestigious presenters

Paula Jansà and Adrià Recasens will again be the presenters of this edition, contributing their experience to an event that can also be followed live on TAC12.

A gesture of recognizing participation

All attendees will receive a gift from the Mare Terra Fundació Mediterrània, a detail that emphasizes the importance of collaboration and participation in the defense of the environment.
