Terrassa promotes the modernization of its football fields

Works underway at the Camp de Sant Llorenç

This week, the City Council of Terrassa has started a renovation project that will transform the grass of the Sant Llorenç football field. With a budget of 360,000 euros, the works are estimated to be completed within two months, as part of a wider initiative to improve the city’s sports facilities.

On Sunday, March 30, the presentation of the new grass of the Municipal Camp of Les Arenes was official. Also, renewal work will soon begin in the field of La Maurina, which will have an investment of 320,000 euros.

The Councilor for Sports, Alberto Muñoz, emphasized the importance of these projects: “Terrassa has the ability to host high -level sports events, both national and international. To guarantee this, we need sports facilities that are in optimum condition and that respond to the needs of clubs and athletes. “

The works already started include the removal of the old lawn, the revision of the leveling of the field and the repair of any damage to ensure proper drainage. The new grass, which will have a height of 6 cm, will be placed following a rigorous process that will end with the cleaning of the perimeter gutters.

Future investments in sports facilities

Between 2025 and 2026, the City Council plans to allocate a total of 1,630,000 euros to the renovation of the lawns of the football fields 11 of Can Parellada, Poblenou, Sant Pere Nord and the football fields 7 of the Arenes and the District II. The facilities of the Cruyff Court Xavi Hernández will also be improved. The works will be staggered to minimize the impact on sports activity, with the aim of ending around the beginning of 2027.

An integral dish for export the culture

These actions are part of a wider strategy of the governing program, which seeks to establish a plan for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the city’s sports and cultural facilities. In addition to the improvements in the football fields, the renovation of the interior pavement of the Maurina Pavilion and the reform of the Can Jofresa changing rooms are planned.
