The festival of Santa Tecla has experienced a remarkable rise in recent years, becoming a key event for the Sitget community. Since, at the beginning of the last decade, President Ramon Soler encouraged the realization of the nocturnal dances on September 22, the celebration has gained in popularity and importance. This evolution responds to the citizens’ need to enjoy festivals that are far from the overcrowding that often accompanies more traditional festivities.
A Well Organized Event
This year’s edition stood out for its impeccable organization and the collaboration between different social agents. The Santa Tecla Commission has worked intensively with gangs, local organizations and families to ensure that every detail was taken care of. The results have been evident, with massive attendance and active participation, especially in the children’s dances and the Matinal, where more than 800 children enjoyed a route designed to guarantee the smoothness and safety of the events.
The Need to Adapt to New Times
With Sitges’ demographic growth, participation in Santa Tecla’s activities has increased significantly. This has generated long waiting lists for children who want to participate in the dances, leaving many without the possibility of integrating into this tradition. It is essential that the community opens a dialogue about how to manage this growing demand and find solutions that allow more children to enjoy the party.

The Commission has implemented access control measures to areas with a high concentration of people, ensuring that the party takes place in a safe environment. These actions, which were already seen during the Festa Major, deserve to be recognized, despite the fact that there are still those who do not understand them or, even worse, who ignore them.
