A tour with a diverse repertoire
The Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC) is preparing an exciting tour for 2025, which will take it to 9 cities in 4 European countries. Hundreds of musicians, along with five renowned soloists, will make this ambitious musical adventure possible.
Madrid marks the beginning of a musical journey
The tour will begin this weekend with a performance in Madrid, where an exchange will be carried out with the National Orchestra of Spain. This collaboration, which includes simultaneous performances in the Barcelona Auditorium, will allow the OBC to return to the National Auditorium of Music of Madrid after two years of absence.
A captivating program
Directed by Morlot, the first performance in Madrid will present a program that includes emblematic works by Ravel, such as ‘Alborada del Gracioso’ and ‘Pictures of an exhibition’ by Mussorgski. In addition, the violinist Carolin Widmann will be the soloist in Gerhard’s ‘Violin Concert’, while the premiere of ‘Deux Constellations Pour Orchestre by Learn Joan Miró’ by Héctor Parra will add a contemporary touch to the repertoire.
France, the next destination
After Easter, the OBC will travel to France, with scheduled performances at the Lyon Auditorium and the Grand Théâtre d’Ais de Provence. These concerts will be part of the Easter Festival and, although they will maintain the repertoire presented in Madrid, will replace the work of Gerhard with the ‘Piano Concert in Gershwin, with Lucas debargue as a soloist.
Amsterdam and his news
The summer will bring the orchestra to Amsterdam, where he will present a program dedicated mainly to Ravel. In this performance, which will take place in the prestigious Concertgebouw, the ephemeral symphony of José Río-Parleja will open the concert, followed by the Sonata for violin no. 2 with Renaud Capuçon and other prominent works such as ‘Tzigane’.
Germany, a new horizon
In November, the OBC embarks on a trip to Germany, with performances at Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. The repertoire will include works by Central European composers, with the Bomsori violinist as a soloist. In addition, a work will be premiered by Miquel Oliu, who promises to be a highlight of the program.
Collaborations and exchanges
From November 26 to November 28, the OBC will perform two performances in the Basque Country, within the framework of a musical exchange. These performances will take place at the Palau Euskalduna de Bilbao and the Kursaal Auditorium of San Sebastián, under the direction of Morlot.
An international journey
In addition to the OBC, in 2025 the Barcelona Municipal Band will also see in Portugal to perform at the Casa da Música in Porto. This performance, with a program that includes works by Borguñó i Blanquer, will represent another step in the new strategy of internationalization of the Auditorium formations.
A promising future
With this tour, the OBC not only strengthens its presence on the international scene, but also opens new opportunities for Catalan music, showing that culture and creativity have no borders.
