The clandestine life of ‘El Yoyas’
Carlos Navarro, known as ‘El Yoyas’ for his participation in Big Brother, was captured after 19 months on the run. During this time, he was hidden in a farmhouse, living in conditions of extreme secrecy. He remained ‘encased’ in the house, without going out into the street or looking out of the windows, which made it difficult for the authorities to locate him.
Investigators describe their situation as being in a ‘denement’, with the windows lined with double blinds. This situation led the agents to doubt whether he was really inside the house, since no one opened the door when they tried to contact him.
The capture of ‘El Yoyas’ was marked by a struggle with the agents who were trying to enter the house, resulting in an injury to the fugitive. After his arrest, he expressed his disbelief, asking who had betrayed him, and was taken to prison to serve his sentence for mistreatment.
Errors and consequences
During his time as a fugitive, ‘El Yoyas’ made mistakes that contributed to his capture. He gave interviews to the media, showing a lack of repentance and requesting a pardon, which generated outrage among the authorities and public opinion.
These actions, considered arrogant, made him the target of a group specialized in locating fugitives. The operation to capture him, called ‘Bosque’, began as a result of these interviews, and finally culminated with his arrest in the farmhouse where he was hiding.
Life in hiding
During his time at the farmhouse, ‘El Yoyas’ received visits from his father, his current girlfriend and a young woman with whom he was in a relationship. Despite the strict security measures he took to avoid detection, such as covering the windows with black coverings and using orange lights to avoid emitting light to the outside, the authorities managed to identify his location and capture him.
Despite his attempt to remain hidden, ‘El Yoyas’ failed to avoid his arrest, which led him to question who had betrayed him, without recognizing his own mistakes as a fugitive.
