An emotional event in Salses

Today, at 7 am, the exiles in Switzerland who are starting the return caravan to Catalonia have gathered at the door of the Catalan Countries, in Salses, in Northern Catalonia. In this first stop, the general secretary of Esquerra, Marta Rovira, the republican deputy Ruben Wagensberg, the leader of Òmnium Cultural Oleguer Serra, the journalist Jesús Rodríguez and the entrepreneur Josep Campmajor took the opportunity to take a joint photo at next to the symbolic sculpture of the Catalan entrance. This event marked the beginning of a day full of acts of tribute, recognition and support for exiles.

Participation in organized events

After seven years in exile in Switzerland, Marta Rovira will participate today for the first time in a physical way in the meeting of the executive of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya and later in the National Council, the highest body of training between congresses. These events are organized by Òmnium Cultural, the newspaper La Directa and Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya. This is an opportunity for Rovira to re-enter the political battle after the poor results of the last electoral cycle.

Among them are the mayor of Salt, Jordi Viñas, Laia Cañigueral of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya, the former deputy of the CUP Carles Riera, the activist Anna Gabriel, the former deputy of the CUP and activist David Fernàndez, the deputy of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya Teresa Jordà, the councilor of Acció Climàtica David Mascort, the general secretary of Junts Jordi Turull, the spokesman of the same party Josep Rius, the lawyer and ex-deputy of the CUP Benet Salellas and Xavier Antich, president of ‘Òmnium Cultural, among many others (https://correccioencatala.cat/com-estructura-text-catala/).

An event without the presence of all the exiles

Former councilor Lluís Puig, exiled in Belgium along with Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comín, could not be present at the Salses event as he still cannot enter Spain. However, he has received Marta Rovira in Salses to support him. The procession will continue to Cantallops, in the Alt Empordà, where there will be a reception for the returnees.
