The celebration of dance: a cultural journey to the Pyrenees

A special day in La Seu d’Urgell

On Thursday, April 24, the Plaça Joan Sansa de la Seu d’Urgell will become the stage of a great party dedicated to dance, known as the Day Dance. From 10:15 am, more than 260 students from 12 different schools will meet to celebrate the culture of the Pyrenees through the movement.

Expanded participation and new additions

This year, the project has been enriched with the participation of three new schools, including the ZER Narieda, which brings together students from the municipalities of Organyà, Coll de Nargó and Peramola, thus adding more than thirty new participants.

Invited musicians

The day will be performing recognized musicians such as Manu Sánchez, Nina Planavila and Mònica Roca, who will contribute their musical talent to accompany the young dancers in this vibrant celebration.

A growing educational project

The Dansa’t project, promoted by the Pyrenees Folk School, seeks to promote the connection of students with their culture through traditional dance. This year, it has spread to 14 elementary schools spread over three counties: Alt Urgell, Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà.

Learn through dance

The celebration of Dance Day is not only an opportunity to dance, but also a way of learning about the territory. Students discover the geography, local languages ​​and musical history of the region, while learning to dance dances such as the Bolangera or the Indiot of La Seu d’Urgell.

The importance of the community

Ivan Caro, a social educator and musician at the Pyrenees Folk School, emphasizes that dancing not only helps to know the environment, but also encourages mutual knowledge between students, teachers and colleagues, creating a positive atmosphere both inside and outside the classroom.

A Brilliant Future for Traditional Dance

With the incorporation of new students, about 300 participants have joined this edition of the Dance Day, where they have explored dances from various Pyrenees. His experience includes not only dance, but also the knowledge of traditional instruments and cultural riches in other parts of the world.
