The Cheese Fair in Las Tricias: a celebration of local gastronomy

An unmissable event in the Villa de Garafía

The Villa de Garafía is preparing to welcome cheese lovers at the VI edition of the Cheese Fair, which will take place in the ‘José Mata’ square in Las Tricias. The event, organized by the Town Council, will take place on Saturday, April 6, from 12:00 to 18:00.

The Cheese Fair is a unique opportunity to enjoy local culture and gastronomy. The Villa City Council, through the Department of Local Development, has demonstrated its constant commitment to the promotion of this emblematic product of the region, as well as the recognition and support of local ranchers.

A wide variety of cheeseries and wineries

A total of 10 cheese factories from the municipality will be present at the Cheese Fair, including Luna de Awara, Hermanos Marrero, Oropesa, La Cumbre, Lomada Grande, Mocolón, El Juncal, El Calvario, Garafía and Minervino. In addition, the four wineries of the municipality will also participate in the event, offering their renowned Tagalguén, Piedra Jurada, Vitega and El Níspero wines. This combination of local cheeses and wines promises to be an ideal pairing for attendees.

In addition to the cheese factories and wineries, the Palmera Breed Goat Breeders Association will also be present at the Cheese Fair. Visitors will be able to enjoy the typical goat in sauce, prepared by this association.

Activities for the whole family

The Cheese Fair not only offers a wide variety of local products, but also activities for the whole family. The Association of Tasters ‘El Almud’ will organize the V Cheese Tasting Contest in pairs, where participants will be able to enjoy and evaluate different cheeses from the region. In addition, there will be children’s activities so that the little ones can also enjoy the day.

Music and festive atmosphere

The Cheese Fair will be enlivened with live music by Parranda La Laja and Grupo Ilusión Gomera. These groups will fill the atmosphere with their dance music, creating a festive and happy atmosphere for all attendees.

Exhibition ‘The Cheese Culture’

As part of the activities prior to the Cheese Fair, the Exhibition Hall of the Las Tricias Tourist Information Point hosts the exhibition ‘The Cheese Culture’. This exhibition offers a detailed look at the cheese-making process, related pieces and an approach to the palm goat breed through photographs.
