The Commitment of Progressive Forces After the Catalan Elections

The call for agreement and plurality

The candidate of Comuns Sumar in the parliamentary elections, Jéssica Albiach, this Monday urged the PSC, ERC and the CUP to commit to an agreement ‘between progressive forces’ after the Catalan elections of 12 May.

In an interview, Albiach highlighted the importance of conspiring to ensure that the next government of Catalonia is progressive, both for the forces that make it up and for the policies that they develop.

A forceful and decisive campaign

Albiach has expressed his concern about the electoral campaign presented as a contest between three forces, thus denying the plurality and diversity of the Parliament and emphasizing that his party will be decisive in the process.

The candidate has avoided talking about support for socialists and republicans, despite ruling out a collaboration with Junts, arguing that the two options defend similar models.

The refusal of budgets and the urgency of elections

Asked about the Commons’ rejection of the Generalitat’s budgets, Albiach stated that she has no regrets as she considers that the ERC prioritized the elections, giving little importance to the budgets.

During the budget negotiation stage, Albiach explained that the president of the Generalitat offered her a tripartite agreement with the commitment to create a study group on European gambling taxation, to which she replied with decrease
