The conditioning tasks of the old Manlleu water treatment plant are finished

The old drinking water plant in Manlleu has completed the conditioning tasks

The actions carried out at the old water treatment plant in Manlleu have reached their conclusion. This space, which had been unused for years and was in a state of significant degradation, has been the subject of a cleaning and painting process. In addition, the windows and entrances have been boarded up to prevent entry into the interior of the building. These actions have been carried out by the municipal brigade of Manlleu, which has worked progressively to condition this space located on Carrer del Torrent de la Boirina.

A change of use for the space

In recent years, different options have been considered for the new use of this space. At first, the possibility of demolishing the building was considered, since the water treatment plant was no longer necessary after the supply of drinking water passed into the hands of the Osona County Council. Later, the possibility of installing the Local Police station was considered, but this option was discarded due to the classification of the area as a preferential flow zone and a flood zone.

A progressive transformation

Manlleu City Council has carried out a series of actions to transform the space located on Carrer del Torrent de la Boirina. These actions have included the demolition of the old water tanks and the creation of a large green area around the building. In this way, it has been possible to give new life to this old drinking water plant, turning it into a qualified and pleasant space for the residents of Manlleu.
