The controversial decision to grant the title of ‘Royal’ to the Balearic Language Academy

A controversial decision

A large majority of 95.64% of our readers express indignation at the decision to grant the title of ‘Royal’ to the Academy of the Balearic Language, considering it ‘outrageous and legitimizing uncultured’. Only 4.36% of readers believe that King Felipe VI is not wrong and that this title is merely honorary, the result of the unknown.

The Bourbons and their new ridiculousness

Once again, the members of the Spanish Royal House have played the role of a ridiculous situation. According to a report recently published on premium.cat, the honorary title of ‘Royal’ has been awarded to the Academy of the Balearic Language, a group that promotes linguistic secessionism. This decision endorses inculturation and has surprised many, since the favorable reports that supposedly justify this distinction have not been revealed.

The Balearic Language Academy and its controversial actions

The Academy of the Balearic Language is a small group made up of four people, without any philological training, which tries to imitate the Academy of Valencian Culture and promotes hatred towards everything Catalan. In addition, his link with the Grup d’Acció Balear, a violent radical group, has been established. In the past, they held a congress where five people participated, but ended up arguing and not reaching an agreement on the spelling standards they wanted to promote.

Reactions to the decision

The Council of Mallorca has already asked King Felipe VI to reconsider this decision, while VOX has taken a position in favor of the Academy. In addition, the Balearic Cultural Work and the Balearic Islands Language Platform, among other entities, have spoken out on this issue. All of them wanted to denounce the complicity of Felipe VI and the Spanish Royal House with linguistic secessionism.

The opinion of our readers

The opinion of our readers is strong: 95% consider that awarding the title of ‘Royal’ to the Academy of the Balearic Language is an outrageous act and legitimizes ignorance. This decision is considered as another sign of contempt for Catalan and the culture of the Balearic Islands.
