The defense of the funding proposal and the amnesty by the president of the Generalitat

Pere Aragonès promotes amnesty as a way to repair the pain caused by repression

Pere Aragonès, president of the Generalitat, has affirmed during his intervention in the Senate that the amnesty is the way to repair much of the pain caused by the repression. In addition, he predicted that this proposal will be accepted sooner or later. Aragonès has defended his conviction that, as happened with the amnesty, the referendum will no longer be considered unconstitutional by the government of Pedro Sánchez.

Aragonès claims the unique financing proposal and the bilaterality with the central government

The Catalan president has reiterated his defense of the amnesty law and has backed his referendum proposal, as well as the unique financing approach for Catalonia. In this sense, he has reminded the Sánchez government that, despite the fact that they rejected the amnesty, it is finally expected to be approved. Aragonès has stressed that, with reference to the referendum, it will cease to be unconstitutional in the near future.

Amnesty as reparation for the pain caused by repression

During his intervention at the General Commission of the Autonomous Communities of the Senate, Aragonès defended that the amnesty represents an opportunity to repair the pain caused by the repression. He has reaffirmed the importance of this proposal as a way to resolve the sovereignty conflict between Catalonia and the State. In addition, he highlighted the evolution of the amnesty as an example of the viability of the referendum in the future.

Claim against the statements of the barons of the PP and PSOE

Aragonès has claimed his presence in the forum of regional presidents to defend Catalonia against the opposition and contempt. He responded to the statements of the PP and PSOE barons against the amnesty, calling them unacceptable. He has insisted that the amnesty law represents an amendment to an unjust sentence and the illegitimacy of legal and police repression.

The road to the referendum and its constitutional viability

Aragonès has expressed his conviction about the viability of the referendum as a way to consolidate negotiations in the future. He affirmed the importance of the investiture agreements between the PSOE and ERC as an indicator of the majority’s will for a referendum on the independence of Catalonia. He compared the evolution of the amnesty with the prognosis of the future change of opinion on the constitutionality of the referendum.

Unique financing proposal and the importance of bilateralism

Aragonès has defended, in parallel with the negotiation of the referendum, the need to establish a unique financing system for Catalonia. He has insisted on the importance of funding in which Catalonia directly manages the resources and collects all the taxes. He has affirmed the importance of the bilateral relationship with the State as the key to a unique fair and equitable financing.
