A new case shakes Valladolid
Regrettably, gender-based violence has reappeared, with a recent incident in Valladolid that resulted in the murder of a 48-year-old woman, allegedly at the hands of her partner. This event has brought the total number of women killed by gender-based violence to 29 so far in 2024.
Worrying data
The statistics are alarming: since 2003, there have been 1,273 murders of women due to gender violence in Spain. On the other hand, the number of minors who have been orphaned due to these violent acts has reached 21 this year, and 454 since 2013.
Institutional reactions
Ana Redondo, Minister of Equality, together with Carmen Martínez, delegate of the Government against Gender Violence, have expressed their deep indignation and rejection at this new murder. They expressed their support for the affected families and urged society to join forces to prevent future tragedies.
Help resources available
The Ministry of Equality has recalled the importance of having access to aid resources. The 016 telephone number, as well as other channels such as WhatsApp and online chat, are available 24 hours a day to provide advice and support to victims of gender-based violence.
Immediate assistance
In emergency situations, it is recommended to contact 112 or the emergency telephone numbers of the National Police and the Civil Guard. For those people who cannot make a call, the ALERTCOPS application allows you to send an alert signal to the police with the exact location.
Social commitment
The increase in these cases demands a deep reflection on the role of society in the fight against male violence. We must all be aware of the seriousness of this problem and work together to eradicate it, creating a safer and fairer environment for everyone.
