The Procession of Silence: A Recovered Tradition
With the arrival of Holy Week, processions fill the streets of the city with fervor and tradition. Standing out as the first of these celebrations, the Procession of Silence, which was re-established in 2022 after more than half a century without taking place. This emotional procession will take place next Sunday, March 24, coinciding with Palm Sunday.
An Emblematic Tour Full of Symbolism
The starting point of this march will be the basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu, with scheduled departure at 7.45pm. The route will pass through several emblematic streets of the city, such as the Baixada de la Seu, Carrer Vallfonollosa, Plaça d’en Creus, Carrer de les Piques, among others, ending back at the basilica.
Organization and Support of Processions
The Procession of Silence is coordinated by various entities such as the Reparatory and Cultural Association of Pius IX, the Body of Bearers of the Holy Christ and the Venerable Congregation of the Virgin of Sorrows. In addition, it has the essential support of the Armats de Manresa, who lead the march with their drums and mark the rhythm with great solemnity.
