Strategic reinforcement and staff expansion
After the summer period, the Mossos d’Esquadra will open a new call for 900 officers, adding to the already planned recruitments of recent months.
These new agents will become part of a strategic plan to increase the number of Mossos d’Esquadra from 17,000 to 22,000 between the years 2030 and 2031, which implies a considerable increase in personnel and improvements in technology and equipment.
The acting Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, made this announcement during the inauguration of a new police station in La Jonquera, which reinforces the commitment to a greater presence throughout the territory.
New strategic presence
The new police station in La Jonquera, located at a key point due to its connection between the borders of Spain and France, will strengthen the operational capacity in a transit area relevant to Europe.
The chief commissioner of the Mossos d’Esquadra, Eduard Sallent, has stressed the importance of this new police station in improving the police presence in this key area.
This infrastructure will also strengthen police collaboration in areas already under French administration, expanding the presence of the Mossos d’Esquadra in this territory.
