The municipal budgets for the year 2024 in Sóller have been approved

The plenary session of the Sóller City Council has approved the municipal budgets for the year 2024

The plenary session of the Sóller City Council approved the municipal budgets for the year 2024 on Friday, marking a milestone after two years without budget approval. In 2023, no budget was approved and it ran on the previous year’s extension, approved in May 2022.

The municipal budgets for the year 2024 exceed 26 million euros

The municipal budgets for the year 2024 amount to more than 26.2 million euros (€26,274,470.55), including the budgets of the municipal company Sóller 2010 and those of the Municipal Funeral Home. The service company has a budget of more than 4 million euros (€4,169,586.10), while that of the funeral home is 354,000 euros.

Budget increase compared to 2022

The approved budgets represent an increase of more than 3 million euros compared to the year 2022, which was 23 million euros, including public companies. Of this increase, two million correspond to Casas de la Vila and approximately one million euros to Sóller 2020.

The 2024 budgets comply with fiscal rules and budget balance

The Councilor for Finance, Andrea Pomar, has ensured that the 2024 budget complies with fiscal rules and budget balance, with a surplus of 714,665.50 euros. Pomar has acknowledged that costs have increased, but has highlighted the low debt of the corporation, which is 3.9%. All municipal areas are provided with more budget to guarantee their operation and comply with the obligations.

Low investment capacity for 2024

Regarding investments, only a figure of 85,000 euros has been contemplated in the ordinary budget. Councilwoman Pomar explained that this figure is related to a technical demand and that the real investment will be financed with leftovers. The municipal investment capacity for 2024 will be 1.6 million euros.

A realistic budget adjusted to economic reality

Councilor Pomar considers that the 2024 budget is realistic and adjusted to economic reality. It has been an effort from all areas to adapt to the current circumstances and guarantee the functioning of the municipality.
