The Government approves a bill to promote the Inclusive and Responsible Economy
The Government gave the green light this Tuesday to the Inclusive and Responsible Economy of Catalonia bill. This proposal, developed in collaboration with the Association of the Inclusive and Responsible Economy of Catalonia (AEIRC), provides for the creation of a Catalan Council for the Inclusive and Responsible Economy, with consultation and advisory functions.
Objectives focused on collective well-being
According to the executive, the aim of this regulation is “to establish its own legal framework, with the hope that it will gradually evolve and enable the transformation of the Catalan economic model following criteria of diversity and democracy, with a focus on people”.
Definition of the Inclusive and Responsible Economy
The regulations define the Inclusive and Responsible Economy as that which includes “companies, organizations and entities that carry out socio-business activities and community initiatives based on the prioritization of people and the collective or general interest over economic benefit “.
Positive reactions and parliamentary support
The AEIRC has expressed its satisfaction with the approval of this bill. The president of the association, Guillem Llorens, expressed his gratitude to the Catalan government “for all these years of collaboration” and to the parliamentary parties that “have committed to the need to do the economy in a different way”, putting emphasis on people and the sustainability of projects.
Transversal collaboration for an inclusive legislative initiative
The AEIRC has been the driving force behind this legislative proposal, with the participation of several entities that make up the Social and Solidarity Economy: the Confederation of Cooperatives of Catalonia, the Table of Entities of the Third Inclusive Sector of Catalonia, the Business Confederation of Inclusive Third Sector of Catalonia, the Federation of Mutual Funds of Catalonia and the Solidarity Economy Network of Catalonia.
Next final approval by the Parliament
The Inclusive and Responsible Economy Law of Catalonia will have to be definitively ratified by the next parliament, the result of the May 12 elections. In this sense, Llorens has offered to collaborate with the new parliament to continue working on its final approval during the next legislature.
