The new Mossos d’Esquadra police station in La Jonquera will not open until June, instead of April as previously announced. This equipment will replace the prefabricated modules from where the body currently operates and will provide service to 13 municipalities in the area. Construction work began in February 2022 and has involved an investment of more than 3 million euros.

Service in 13 municipalities

Apart from Jonquera, the police station will also serve Cantallops, Capmany, Sant Climent Sescebes, Espolla, Rabós, Mollet de Peralada, Masarac, Biure, Darnius, Maçanet de Cabrenys, la Vajol and Agullana.

Statements by Laia Cañigueral

The Government delegate in Girona, Laia Cañigueral, announced the new date during a site visit to the facilities. This visit also served to take stock of Interior matters over the past three years, highlighting the addition of 238 Mossos agents and the acquisition of new vehicles that have increased the fleet by 32 vehicles.
