The Penedès Classic: a benchmark in Catalan cyclotourism

An event that attracts more cyclists year after year

The sixth edition of the Penedès classic, scheduled for June 8, promises to be a great event for cycling fans. Currently, 900 cyclists have already registered, consolidating this march as one of the most relevant in Catalonia, only behind emblematic tests such as the Mussara and the Remences land.

Tailored routes for all levels

Participants will have the option to select between two routes designed to adapt to the various capabilities. The long route covers 135 kilometers with a positive slope of 2000 meters, passing through towns such as Vilafranca, Sant Pere de Riudebitlles and Santes Creus. On the other hand, the 85 -kilometer short route, with an unevenness of 1,200 meters, shares the route to La Llacuna before returning to Vilafranca.

Growth of female participation

One of the highlights of this edition is the constant increase in female participation, which already represents more than 10% in previous editions. This tendency is a reflection of the growing interest of women by cycling and cycling in particular.

Parallel activities for all

The day before the march, on Saturday, June 7, there will be several talks open to the public. Among them is a session on sports nutrition, presented by Etixx, which will offer tips on how to feed before, during and after the competition. In addition, Gemma Rossell will present his book ‘The challenge’, adding value to the event.

A positive impact on the community

The Councilor for Sports and Tourism, Gemma Romeu, together with the organizers, emphasized the importance of the Classic Penedès as a driver of promotion for the city and the region. These types of events help build a brand image and position Penedès as a preferred destination for cycling lovers.

Preparations for an insured success

To improve the participants’ experience, new spaces have been set up in the Fair Pavilion and on the Vilafranca Semi -Delive track. These improvements are a reflection of the commitment to the reception and comfort of cyclists, who contribute to the Penedès classic an unforgettable event.
