The Penedès Classic: An unforgettable cycling experience

An event that attracts passion and commitment

On Sunday, June 8, the Penedès classic, one of the most anticipated cycling marches, will celebrate its sixth edition, reaffirming itself as one of the culminating points of the Catalan cycling calendar. Yesterday, the Vilafranca Tourism Office hosted the presentation of the event, with the presence of the Councilor for Sports, Gemma Romeu, and representatives of the organizers, LETS VELO and Sans cycles.

A significant increase in participation

With more than 900 registered so far, the Classic Penedès is positioned as the fourth most relevant cycling competition in Catalonia, only surpassed by emblematic names such as La Mussara, land of remences and 3 nations. The trend indicates a constant increase in participation, with a significant increase in female cyclists, who already represent more than 10% of the previous edition.

Personalized experience for all

This year, the organizers have emphasized the experience of each participant. The cyclist’s bag will include articles such as an Etixx bid, a novice coffee capsules, an Amstel can, an energy ice, and an exclusive design jersey made with ultralight fabrics.

Routes designed for all levels

Long Tour: A 135 km challenge

The long route of 135 km offers a positive slope of 2000 meters, passing through spectacular landscapes such as Vilafranca, Pla del Penedès, and Sant Pere de Riudebitlles, among others.

Short Travel: Ideal for Starts

For those looking for a more accessible option, the short 85 km route with 1200 meters of positive slope allows you to enjoy the beauty of the Penedès without a great physical commitment.

Pre-event and training activities

On the eve of the march, on Saturday, June 7, talks will be given to the public. Etixx will organize a sports nutrition session with experts, while Gemma Rossell will present his book ‘The challenge’, contributing valuable knowledge for all participants.

A bright future for the Penedès

Both Gemma Romeu and the organizers have emphasized the importance of events such as the Penedès classic to establish the city and the region as top -notch cycling destinations, building a brand that attracts athletes from all over.
