International support for those investigating the Democratic Tsunami

The Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) coalition, dedicated to denouncing violations of press freedom in Europe, has expressed its concern about the criminalization and persecution of journalist Jesús Rodríguez Sellés, accused of terrorism in the Tsunami Democràtic case.

Organizations such as the International Press Institute (IPI), the European Center for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) and the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) demand that the Spanish authorities stop the investigation against Rodríguez Sellés and exhaustively review the case to guarantee the freedom of expression and information.

The internationalization of the persecution of the Catalan independence movement

Those investigated in the Democratic Tsunami case, exiled in Switzerland, seek to internationalize the denunciation of the persecution of the Catalan independence movement.

Oleguer Serra, director of Òmnium Cultural, announced from Perpignan a campaign of denunciation from exile.

Ongoing investigations and pending subpoenas

In the Tsunami case, open since 2019, the judge of the National Court is expected to summon those investigated to testify.

The Civil Guard investigates the whereabouts of those investigated and asks them to provide their address to be summoned.

The Supreme Court judge investigating the accused in the Tsunami case has offered Carles Puigdemont and Ruben Wagensberg to testify by videoconference, which would allow their presence at the trial despite their exile.

Support of three Nobel Peace Prize winners

Three Nobel Peace Prize winners and numerous Catalan and international entities have joined a manifesto of support for Ruben Wagensberg.

The signatories reject the accusation of terrorism and warn of its use to discredit political dissidents and social movements.

Concern over the investigation of journalist Jesús Rodríguez Sellés

Journalists and press freedom organizations have expressed concern about the investigation against Rodríguez Sellés, exiled in Switzerland.

The partners of Media Freedom Rapid Response ask for a review of the circumstances of the investigation and for Rodríguez Sellés to be allowed to continue his journalistic work freely.

In the Tsunami case, Rodríguez Sellés is accused of informing President Puigdemont about the Democratic Tsunami platform, which promoted mass mobilizations against the judgment of the Process.
