The PSC, favorite to win the next elections
According to the survey carried out by the Center for Opinion Studies (CEO), the Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC) leads the electoral polls in Catalonia. The poll predicts an overwhelming victory for Salvador Illa’s PSC, which would win between 40 and 47 seats in the upcoming elections on May 12. This result confirms the good electoral forecasts for the PSC.
The competence of the PSC
According to the survey, Pere Aragonès of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) would maintain second position with between 31 and 37 deputies, while Junts would be behind with a hairpin ranging from 28 to 34 representatives. This means that Carles Puigdemont will not be able to overtake ERC, and the republicans would maintain the leadership of independence in the Parliament of Catalonia. Other parties such as the Popular Party (PP), Vox and the Commons also obtain parliamentary representation, but to a lesser extent.
The disappointment of the Commons
The survey shows that the Commons would be the big disappointment, with a fork of between 3 and 6 representatives. This result is below expectations and indicates a loss of support for this party.
Other outstanding results
The survey also reveals that the Popular Party (PP) would experience a significant increase in support, going from the current 3 deputies to a minimum of 8. Vox would get between 5 and 9 seats, while the CUP would be left with between 4 and 8 deputies .
Comparison with other surveys
It should be noted that other surveys have given slightly different results. For example, a poll by El Periódico awarded victory to the PSC and placed Junts in second place, while a poll by El País gave Junts better results. This shows that surveys can vary and the results should be taken with caution.
