A Fundraising Campaign

The parish of Santa Maria de Viladordis started a project a couple of years ago to recover the so-called Hermit’s House from the 14th century, which is part of the Santuari de la Salut sanctuary. Although the donation campaign has already raised more than 7,000 euros, the restoration of the building, which costs 275,000 euros, is stuck without a public subsidy.

Difficulties in Financing

Despite the fact that the diocese of Vic will contribute a third of the cost of the restoration, the lack of a significant subsidy prevents progress with the works. The campaign to get money is progressing slowly, with small donations from parishioners and individuals, and up to June 7,313 euros have been collected, with the most significant donation being 800 euros.

Historical and Artistic Value of the Building

The parish emphasizes the historical and artistic importance of the building, defending its restoration due to its antiquity and value as a visual landmark in a rural landscape. In addition, it is noteworthy that Saint Ignatius held vigils and prayers at the sanctuary during his stay in Manresa.

Challenges in Financing and Future Use of the Building

Apart from the need for a subsidy, the search for a reliable tenant is considered to make possible the return of the construction loan. It has been considered to rent the house as a home, but the possibility of establishing a restaurant business is also contemplated, given its structure.
