A relentless winter is on the way
In the coming days, Spain is preparing to receive a new cold wave that could bring significant snowfall to several regions of the country. This has been announced by meteorologist Roberto Brasero, who predicts a radical change in weather conditions.
Most affected areas: the north on alert
Forecasts suggest that the heaviest snowfalls will be concentrated mainly in the Cantabrian area and the Pyrenees. The autonomous communities that will experience the most severe conditions include Catalonia, Navarre, Aragon, Cantabria, Asturias, Castile and León, as well as Galicia.
The influence of cold air
According to Brasero, a cold front is moving in from Galicia, causing a notable drop in temperatures. Although temperatures may experience a slight initial softening, the general trend will be towards a more wintry climate, with frosts that will once again affect large areas.
Forecasts for the next few days
On Thursday, snowfall is expected to spread to more regions, including Castile and León, Aragon and Catalonia, with snow accumulation that could be significant, especially in the Pyrenees. Meanwhile, temperatures on the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands will remain relatively warm.
A wind that accentuates the fred
In addition to the cold, the wind will become a prominent factor, with strong gusts forecast on the northeast coast and mountainous areas, increasing the feeling of cold among the population.
Friday: The calm before the storm
Friday will mark the peak of the cold wave. Frosts will spread across northern and central Spain, with maximum temperatures that will not come close to those of previous days. Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands, residents will experience a different phenomenon: the calitja, with dust from the Sahara that will affect visibility and air quality.
Long-term expectations
As the week progresses, weather conditions are expected to continue to fluctuate, with cold weather likely to persist for several weeks. Citizens should prepare for the approaching winter conditions with caution on the roads and a focus on personal safety.
