A Promising Start at the Terrassa Seminary
The Seminary of Terrassa has begun the new year with a renewed spirit, welcoming eighteen seminarians, including three who join for the first time. One of the most significant moments was the priestly ordination of Javier Bausili Morenza, a young man of 26, on September 29. Now, Javier will assume the role of vicar in Sant Pere d’Octavià, in Sant Cugat del Vallès, after having served as a deacon in the same parish.
An Inspiring Vocational Path
Son of a Christian family with five children, Javier grew up in an environment where faith was a fundamental pillar. His career has taken him to different locations, including Igualada and Castellbisbal, with an academic training in La Farga. A key moment in his life was a pilgrimage to Ávila during which he felt a deep connection with God, which marked his path to the priesthood.
The Influence of Training in the Seminary
Javier greatly values the community experience of the Seminary, which has strengthened his vocation and provided him with a strong sense of belonging. His academic experience at the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià has been equally enriching, allowing him to make friends with seminarians from other Catalan dioceses and learn about various social and spiritual realities.
The Challenge of Communicating Vocation in a Complex World
Javier recognizes that living his vocation is a source of satisfaction and fulfillment. His dedication to serving the Lord and community helps him connect with values that are often ignored in today’s world. Celibacy, for him, is an expression of union with God and a commitment to others.
Community Life as a Foundation
Currently, Javier resides with other monks in the abbey house, fostering an active community life. Each morning they begin with the recitation of praises, creating an atmosphere of mutual support that reinforces their pastoral mission, which includes catechesis for children of various ages and community support groups.
The Challenge of Connecting with Today’s Youth
Javier observes that the decline of Christian families and the complexities of the modern world make it difficult for young people to respond to the divine call. However, he points out that there is a growing interest among young people in the faith, with initiatives such as the revitalization of the Youth Ministry in the diocese of Terrassa.
The Mission of the Priest in Current Society
With a clear mission to serve and make Jesus Christ present, Javier seeks to accompany people on their spiritual path. Recognizing that the sacraments are responses to the needs of the human heart is essential for him. His dedication to faith and community highlights the importance of living an active and engaged spirituality.
