The SAIL IN: a sports and adventure film festival

The SAIL IN: a reference cultural event

With only six editions, SAIL IN has become one of the top benchmarks in sports and adventure cinema at an international level. Water and wind are the elements that drive this festival, which has managed to consolidate itself as a cultural meeting point for all lovers of sailing. SAIL IN transmits values such as effort, overcoming, teamwork, sustainability and adventure.

With the aim of expanding this passion for sailing, the festival has decided to move temporarily from its original headquarters in Bilbao to Barcelona, coinciding with the celebration of the Copa América de Vela in the Catalan capital. Thus, on May 24, June 21 and July 26, the CCCB will host the SAIL IN TOUR, a unique opportunity to enjoy this renowned cultural event.

El SAIL IN TOUR a Barcelona

The SAIL IN TOUR arrives in Barcelona after six editions in Bilbao. This benchmark event in the world of cinema and nautical culture is part of the Cultural Regatta programme, a program of activities organized by Barcelona City Council in parallel with the 2024 Copa América de Vela. The CCCB has been chosen as the venue for the screenings of the feature films scheduled during the months of May, June and July.

The SAIL IN TOUR screenings will begin on May 24 with the documentaries ‘Philosopher of the Sea’ and ‘Sir Robin Know-Johnston: Legend of Sailing’. The first documentary tells the extraordinary story of Swedish navigator Sven Yrvind and his solo journey of almost 15,000 miles from Ireland to New Zealand. A film that invites you to reflect on life and adventure. The second feature film reviews the career of legendary navigator Robin Know-Johnston and his epic solo, non-stop round-the-world trip. A fascinating journey through the history of sailing.

An unforgettable opening day

The first day of the SAIL IN TOUR will be an unmissable experience. In addition to the screenings of the documentaries, the public will have the opportunity to meet Sir Robin Know-Johnston, one of the most famous sports sailors of all time, in person. Know-Johnston was the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world in 1969, a feat that made him a sailing legend. After the screening of the documentary about his life, the navigator will participate in a talk where he will share his experiences, anecdotes and reflections on his epic journey.

The SAIL IN TOUR is a unique opportunity for all lovers of sailing and sports cinema. Tickets are now available on the festival’s website and cost 6 euros. Don’t miss this landmark cultural event that combines the passion for sailing with the magic of cinema.
