The SAIL IN TOUR: A Consolidated Event Coming to Barcelona
With only six editions, SAIL IN has positioned itself as a benchmark in the world of sailing cinema internationally. This event, which fuses water and wind, has established itself as a cultural meeting point that promotes the passion and values inherent to the sport of sailing, such as effort, improvement, teamwork, sustainability and the adventure.
In an effort to expand its reach, the competition has decided to temporarily move from its original headquarters in Bilbao to Barcelona, coinciding with the celebration of the Copa América de Vela in the Catalan capital. The dates chosen for this event are May 24, June 21 and July 26, taking place at the CCCB.
The SAIL IN TOUR Programming in Barcelona
The SAIL IN TOUR, known as the reference event in cinema and nautical culture, is now established in the Catalan capital under the name of SAIL IN TOUR. This event is part of the Cultural Regatta programming, an initiative promoted by the Barcelona City Council to complement the celebration of the 2024 Copa América de Vela. The CCCB has been chosen as the place where the film screenings will take place. scheduled for the months of May, June and July. Tickets are now on sale on the festival website, costing 6 euros.
An Unforgettable Opening Day
On the first day of the SAIL IN TOUR, May 24, the documentaries Philosopher of the Sea and Sir Robin Know-Johnston: Legend of Navigation will be presented. The first documentary tells the extraordinary story of Swedish sailor Sven Yrvind and his solo voyage of almost 15,000 miles from Ireland to New Zealand, a film that invites you to reflect on life and the search for adventure. The second feature film reviews the career of legendary sailor Robin Know-Johnston and his epic solo, non-stop circumnavigation of the world, offering a fascinating vision through time and the history of sailing.
This opening day will feature Sir Robin Know-Johnston, arguably the most famous sports yachtsman of all time, who in 1969 became the first person to sail solo and non-stop around the world. His feat gave him the title of Sir and made him a legend in the world of sailing. Know-Johnston will participate in a talk after the screening of the documentary about his life, sharing experiences, anecdotes and reflections on his epic voyage around the world by sailing, providing a unique opportunity to get closer to this legendary figure and immerse yourself in the values of Sailing.
