The Tremp Children’s Council promotes the active participation of boys and girls
The City Council of Tremp has resumed the sessions of the Children’s Council, an advisory body that favors the participation of girls and boys in decision-making to make the city friendlier and adapted to their needs. With the aim of encouraging children’s involvement, a new formula has been sought to facilitate their participation, disassociating schools and favoring a neutral and voluntary space on Thursday afternoons (https://www.softcatala.org/ summary-of-texts-in-catalan/).
The reform of the station park, a prioritized project
The first project that the council wants to work on with the support of the Children’s Council is the reform of the station park. This is an outstanding issue and a priority objective for the government team. For this purpose, an appeal has been made for girls and boys from Tremp aged 9 to 11 to register and be part of the design process of the new park.
A participatory process with children as protagonists
The proposal is structured in four meetings with a group of a maximum of 15 children. These meetings will be led by a facilitator and will be attended by the municipal technicians for Works and Services and the councilors for Works and Citizen Participation. It is planned that the meetings will take place during this spring and that the proposed reform of the park will be completed before the summer. Subsequently, the remodeling of the park could be executed during the autumn (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
An annual commitment to children’s participation
The City Council of Tremp has set itself the goal of choosing a project each year in which children can participate. In addition, it is planned to give the opportunity to be part of the Children’s Council to new boys and girls.
