An innovative collaboration agreement between Catalonia, Italy and Portugal is paving the way for an exciting return of the iconic twins, Anna, Teresa and Helena. Catalan production company Peekaboo Animation, in association with Italian studio RainFrog and Portuguese studio Sardinha em Lata, will begin work on the television adaptation this fall, with a premiere scheduled for early 2027.
A Reboot with a Modern Approach
With the aim of reviving the charm of a series that captivated audiences in more than 160 countries during the 90s, the project proposes a reboot that will maintain the original essence, but with an updated vision. The new version will present the sisters at a more mature stage, with content adapted for children aged 7 to 8, instead of the 5 years of the original series.
We celebrate 30 years of The Triplets
The coincidence of the premiere with the 30th anniversary of the first broadcast of the original series underlines the importance of this new production. The creators aim to pay homage to the legacy of The Triplets, while adapting to the social and cultural changes of the moment.
Key Characters and New Dynamics
The new series will maintain the presence of emblematic characters such as the Bored Witch and the owl, and will introduce historical figures such as Frida Kahlo, who will enrich the narratives with an educational and inspiring dimension.
Contemporary Challenges and Collective Learning
According to Iván Agenjo, executive producer of Peekaboo Animation, the new plot will focus on teamwork and autonomy of the twins, presenting situations that reflect the complexities of today’s world. For example, in a modern story about the conceited mouse, the protagonist could use social networks to find companions, providing a realistic perspective on digital life.

With this initiative, the sisters who marked a generation will once again captivate new viewers in Catalonia and beyond, with broadcasts on RAI, RTP, RTVE and 3Cat, through channels such as Clan and SX3. This re-edition promises not only to entertain, but also to educate and inspire new generations, ensuring that the legacy of Les Tres Bessones remains alive.
