A new chapter for the iconic twins

An agreement between Catalonia, Italy and Portugal has given the green light to an exciting project: the revitalization of the famous sisters Anna, Teresa and Helena, known as The Triplets. This initiative, promoted by the production company Peekaboo Animation and the RainFrog studio, with the collaboration of Sardinha em Lata, will mark the beginning of a television adaptation that will begin to take shape this fall.

Adaptation for new generations

With a total of two seasons planned, totaling around fifty episodes, the premiere of the first season is scheduled for early 2027. The series will be available on 3Cat, RTVE, as well as on public television in Italy (RAI) and Portugal (RTP). This new version proposes a modern approach, presenting the twins at a slightly older age, and adapting their adventures to the expectations of today’s audience.

A reboot with a powerful message

The project, which can be considered a reboot, seeks to reinterpret the classic content, maintaining the original essence but providing a new perspective. Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the series’ first broadcast, the new format will not only target a larger children’s audience, but will also focus on themes of teamwork and personal empowerment.

Ancient characters with a contemporary twist

The sisters, now a little older, will once again be surrounded by mythical characters like the Bored Witch and an owl, while also introducing historical figures like Frida Kahlo. This combination promises to enrich the narratives with a modern perspective, where the twins will face more complex and relevant challenges for today.

Innovation in everyday adventures

An example of how this new series adapts to today’s world is the story of the conceited mouse, where the protagonist could search for candidates online, without success, thus reflecting the reality that social networks do not always offer a faithful image. Iván Agenjo, executive producer of Peekaboo Animation, highlights that the goal is to connect with new generations, offering content that maintains the spirit of the original adventures, but that is at the same time relevant and identifiable.

A project with international scope

With this co-production agreement, Les tres bessones will not only once again captivate Catalan audiences, but will also have a new life abroad, reaching viewers from different cultures through channels such as Clan and SX3. This renewal not only promises to thrill, but also seeks to educate and inspire today’s young audiences.
