Study of solar potential in municipal buildings
The Town Council of Torroella de Montgrí has started an exhaustive study to evaluate the potential of solar energy in all municipal buildings. This initiative aims to create a solar map of the municipality that will be available for consultation online.
In this sense, the city council is collaborating with the community to encourage energy communities and promote energy self-sufficiency.
Promotion of energy communities
The project of the first local energy community has been presented to the public at the Espai Ter Auditorium. This initiative, which already has the participation of some forty residents of the municipality, will come into operation once it is connected to the electricity grid.
To carry out this study, the city council has hired the company ImpactE, which specializes in computer services and data analysis applied to decision-making in the field of energy efficiency.
The objectives of the study
The main purpose of the study is to evaluate the potential of generating solar energy through photovoltaic panels in all the buildings of the municipality. This information will be key to identifying the most efficient and sustainable actions to address climate change.
The city council intends to move away from conventional approaches and opt for community facilities that allow greater energy and economic savings, while minimizing the use of the roofs of the buildings.
Impact of the project
The project is expected to facilitate the adoption of quality energy transition policies based on a thorough analysis of the territory. The open data derived from this study will aim to involve citizens in the entire process and promote active participation in municipal development.
In addition, it is intended to enhance the energy self-management of homes and local businesses through the data available in the solar map, offering indicators of photovoltaic potential and other relevant aspects for each building or selected area.
