Start of works: A new age for Viladecans
The City Council of Viladecans has launched this week the works corresponding to the second phase of remodeling of the Rambla Modolell, an ambitious project that covers about 8,400 square meters. With an investment of approximately 2.8 million euros, the works are expected to be completed in the spring of 2026.
A street without barriers: accessibility and aesthetics
The new design of the street will follow the single platform model already implemented in other sections of La Rambla, guaranteeing restricted access only for neighboring vehicles and essential services. This transformation will not only improve street functionality, but also provide a large open space, ideal for community events, thanks to the incorporation of the courtyard of the old Angela Roca school.
A greener and more cozy environment
La Rambla will not only be more accessible, but it will also become a greener space with the planting of new trees and the creation of large flower beds. This initiative adds to the improvement of the adjacent streets, such as San Sebastián, Sant Antoni and Sant Ramon, who will gain space for pedestrians and foster the activity of the Ateneu de Entities Pablo Picasso.
Old School Rehabilitation: A new future for education
Since January, work has been being carried out to transform the building of the old Angela Roca school and in the new headquarters of the Official School of Languages of Viladecans. With a budget of € 2,225,320.45, this energy and accessibility rehabilitation has an expected duration of ten months and has a subsidy of 1.5 million euros of the program for the promotion of the rehabilitation of public buildings, funded by European Next Generation funds.
Impulse to urban regeneration
The purpose of this European program is to foster the regeneration of existing buildings to enhance public facilities, aligning with the objectives of the Spanish urban agenda 2030 for sustainable development.
A renewed boulevard: celebration and community
The first phase of the renovation of the Modolell Rambla was inaugurated on a festive day on December 14, 2024. The Mayor Olga Morales emphasized the importance of the new Rambla as a space without architectural barriers, which promotes a more alive and friendly experience for all citizens.
Improvements in waste management and public spaces
The waste containers and the loading areas have been relocated mainly to adjacent streets, while the children’s game area has been renovated and new rest spaces have been created under the trees. In addition, the reform has strengthened its connection with the old quarter, expanding the pedestrian superblock and improving accessibility.
Looking to the future: an evolving community
With these transformations, Viladecans not only improves its urban landscape, but also strengthens its community, creating spaces that foster social interaction and sustainable development, with the gaze set in the green more green and accessible for all.
