A New Beginning for the C-252
After two decades of waiting, the green light has finally been given for the transformation of the C-252 road between Cabanes and Vilabertran. The project, valued at 2.4 million euros, marks a turning point in the improvement of road infrastructure.
A Safe and Efficient Route
With the aim of guaranteeing the safety of drivers and improving accessibility, the project contemplates a series of crucial interventions. These include the widening of the road, the construction of a strategic roundabout and the improvement of lighting along the route.
Details of the Project
The work will start at the end of the year, with a deadline of nine months. The intervention section, of approximately 1 kilometer, covers from the boundary between the termini of Figueres and Cabanes to the roundabout at the start of the Vilabertran crossing.
In the urban section of Aigüeta, the construction of new sidewalks on both sides to improve pedestrian safety stands out. The road will be widened to 8 meters, with two traffic lanes of three meters and curbs of one meter each.
The project also includes the creation of a roundabout to improve the intersection with the access road to Cabanes. In addition, adjustments will be made to extend the free gauge in the passage below the N-II, among other improvements.
Claim of Decades
The improvement of the C-252 in Aigüeta has been a constant demand for years. Despite previous attempts, bureaucratic obstacles and economic crises have delayed the project until now.
Finally, after a long process, the General Directorate of Mobility Infrastructures approved the project in 2023, signaling a new era for road connectivity in the region.
