Transforming public spaces: the new view of Centelles

A new start for Centelles Parks

In 2025 he has marked the start of an ambitious project in Centelles, which seeks to revitalize the 17 parks in the municipality. Over the years, these spaces have suffered a significant deterioration, and the City Council, in collaboration with associations of families and the elderly, has launched a participatory process to define what their transformation should be like. With a budget of 250,000 euros, the community has been invited to provide its ideas and needs.

Citizen Participation: a collective success

Mayor Josep Paré expressed his satisfaction with the result of this process, emphasizing that 300 people took an active part, while more than 1,000 were interested in the project as a whole. “It was essential to address this topic and the neighbors have shown it with their involvement,” said Jordi Romeu, a councilor for childhood and leader of the initiative.

Commitments and strategies for the future

The conclusions are very promising, and the City Council has pledged to adopt them as part of its reform strategy. One of the highlights is the remodeling of school parks for September, which will be carried out with the participation of children and their families.

Improvement priorities

This summer, the renovation of the Plaça de Catalunya Park has been prioritized, while the reform of the Sports Zone Park and other spaces such as the Mestre and Ziga-Zaga plain for the following years has been planned. Parks like the one in Plaça del Pi and Can Casas will also be the subject of gradual improvements.

Holistic view of community well -being

Beyond dates and commitments, the conclusions of the participatory process emphasize the need to diversify play and leisure options for children and adolescents, as well as guarantee accessibility to all citizens. A key aspect is also the promotion of outdoor sport as a means of improving individual well -being.

Commitment to cleanliness and maintenance

One of the most prominent concerns among citizens is the cleaning and maintenance of parks. In response, the implementation of a mobile application has begun, which will allow the neighbors to communicate directly to the City Council, as well as the new animal welfare ordinance to guarantee a harmonious coexistence.

Fostering shared responsibility

To conclude, the City Council will launch a civic campaign under the slogan ‘Centelles is enjoying when we work together’. This initiative seeks to involve all citizens in the maintenance of public spaces, promoting a sense of co -responsibility that is vital to the health and well -being of the community.
