Two investments related to water increase the Sant Bartomeudivendres budget by more than 30%

The increase in the municipal budget of Sant Bartomeu del Grau

The plenary session of the Sant Bartomeu del Grau Town Council approved the municipal budget for 2008, which amounts to 1,528,678 euros. This represents an increase of approximately 30% to 40% over the previous year’s budget. The mayor, Miquel Colomer, emphasizes that this increase is justified due to two important investments related to water.

Investments related to water

The two major water-related investments that have contributed to the increase in the budget are the following:

1. Supply tank at a higher level

It is planned to build a water supply tank at a higher level. This will improve the distribution of water to the population and will require an investment of 260,000 euros.

2. Expansion of the water network in the farmhouses

Another important investment is the extension of the water network to the farmhouses in the area. This extension will improve the water supply to farmers’ houses and will require an investment of almost 275,000 euros.

Other investments and reforms

In addition to the investments related to water, a sum of 67,000 euros has also been earmarked for the reform of the nursery school. This reform will include the extension of the access room, the installation of ramps and adapted toilets.

Affordability of investments

According to the mayor, Miquel Colomer, the investments are acceptable because the City Council will borrow 150,000 euros. This borrowing will make it possible to finance the necessary investments without seriously affecting municipal finances.

Approval of the budget

The approval of the budget for the year 2008 has had some delay due to the waiting for subsidies and changes in some positions. The mayor hopes that the budget for the year 2009 can be approved in December of this year.
