A significant change in Valencian education
In an event marked by the interest of the educational community, the Minister of Education, José Antonio Rovira, has revealed that 50.53% of the families participating in the recent consultation have opted for teaching in Valencian, while 49.47% have preferred Spanish as their base language.
A high -participation context
Last week, many was focused on the results of this controversial consultation. On March 5, Rovira announced that participation had reached 58.61% among the convened families. The counties with the highest involvement were the county, with 73.28% participation, and the Alcoyano, with 70.21%.

In the historically Spanish -speaking counties, Spanish has gained support, while in 26 of the 39 counties of the region, Valencian has been the favorite language, representing 66.66% of the total.

In relation to the central regions, the county stands out with 87.63%of families who want Valencian as a language of education, followed by Alcoyano with 60.09%, the coast with 77.10%, the Vall d’Albaida with 76.89%and the Safor with 79.37%.
Results by localities
Analyzing the data locally, we find that in cities like Alcoy, 59.66% of families have opted for Valencian; Cocentaina with 82.77%; Wall with a remarkable 91.46%; Banyeres de Mariola with 80.98%; Castalla with 80.34%; Ibi with 34.45%; Onil with 89.72%; Bocairent with 90.12%; Gandia with 70.81%; Ontinyent with 60.89% and Xàtiva with 69.46%.
Reflections on the future of the language
As the results are analyzed, it is clear that Valencian is gaining more and more relevant space in the education of the central counties. The tendency towards greater acceptance of the language indicates a cultural change that could influence future generations.
