Vendrell will host the Natura Open: a mountain biking party in its 20th edition

An emblematic event for Catalan cycling

Next Sunday, El Vendrell will become the nerve center of cycling with the celebration of the 20th edition of the Open Maxxis. This event marks the beginning of the calendar of the Catalan Mountain Bike Marathon Cup, hoping to gather about 600 cycling passionate.

A proposal for all levels

The competition offers three circuits designed to adapt to the abilities of the participants. The first, a short circuit of 24 km, has a slope of 291 meters and is accessible to all. The second, 47 km, will defy the cyclists with a slope of 900 meters, while the Long Circuit, 67 km, with a slope of 1405 meters, is ideal for those looking for a more intense challenge.

A celebration of 25 years of history

The plenary room of the Vendrell Town Hall was the stage chosen to present this edition. The event emphasized the importance of this competition in the local sports scene, and also commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Open Nature in the municipality, a significant moment for all those involved.

A boost for tourism

Jordi Calsina, president of the Open Natura MTB Club, emphasized that this event was born as a popular pedal with the aim of promoting not only sport, but also tourism in the areas it travels. The Mayor of El Vendrell, Kenneth Martínez, emphasized the importance of seasonalizing tourism in the area, showing that the region offers a wide variety of natural and climatic attractions.

Collaboration and community support

The presentation was attended by several mayors and councilors of neighboring municipalities, as well as a representative of the Catalan Cycling Federation. All of them were recognized for their collaboration over the years and received a gift as a gratitude for their contribution over the two decades of History of Open Nature.

Activities for the youngest

Prior to the big test on Sunday, on Saturday, March 8, El Vendrell will host the 6th Copa Catalunya Infantil BTT Cup, a competition that will bring together more than 200 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14, thus encouraging the love of cycling from an early age.

With Open Natura, El Vendrell not only celebrates a sporting tradition, but also projects a message of community, collaboration and love for nature. As the date of the event approaches, the emotion grows between the participants and the organizers, who expect a year full of unforgettable experiences.
